This is a great new addition to Mayo. The food is great, they have a wonderful seafood buffet on Friday. This man used to cook out of his food truck and people would go looking for him because his food was so good. When he moved the truck to another location out of Mayo, people were disappointed. Now that he has been back and we had found out last year, this was my parent’s new favorite place. They love BBQ and they love seafood. It is a very relaxed atmosphere, like Mayo is. We usually have good service when we have been in the past. They have specials, you can order over the phone and from what I was told they have a daily buffet. I am not a big BBQ fan and the food they have is delicious!
This place has a great menu and awesome staff. If we had more time here, I’d give it a second shot. For the money, however, we’ll be venturing to try the local biscuit place that has rave reviews, and some other local recommendations. My suggestion would be that if you go here, dine in and sample the menu.
The sweet potato fries were not crispy or well seasoned. The pie had a drizzle, which I thought would be a bonus, but which reminded me of car wax. The crust was undercooked as well. They had lots of other pies here that might have been a better choice, like peanut butter and key lime.
The meat was pretty great. Everything else was good, but not perhaps $50 good for two people.
In order of goodness, it was clam chowder, frog legs, pulled pork, everything in-between, and sweet potato fries and pie last. The chowder was on-point with an awesome bit of heat in the background. Frog legs were well cooked. Pulled pork was smoky and tender.
We ordered the pulled pork fries, frog legs, pulled pork, cheese grits, mac and cheese, sweet potato fries, corn nuggets, texas toast, clam chowder, and sweet potato pie.
The BBQ chick‘n and rib combo plate was great! The buffet looked good too. I’ll try that out next time I go through there on the way back from Steinhatchee!
Good local food but not remarkable
Just had the seafood buffet. It wasn't ready when we got there but they rushed to get it ready for us. Well worth the price, food was great! Waitress "Jamie" was quick to keep our tea filled, brought extra napkins without us having to ask and even brought me a bowl of cole slaw to try which was better than any I have ever had. Would highly recommend this place.
First, let me say that the staff were awesome. Informative. Great attitude. Helpful. Polite. The whole nine.
The pork steak is phenomenal!!! Plan on waiting tough for your food. The service is about par for a small town in rural FL. Sonny does big events too. His ribs are mouthwatering too.
